Proving to be a difficult task of removing the footings of the previous foundation, demolition is still happening. About a month ago, PCL had increased their monitoring of the vibrations in and around the immediate neighbourhood to ensure that their work was within the City of Toronto’s rules and regulations relating to vibration.
The Community Master Plan was approved by the City of Toronto in 2006, basing it on a unique ‘campus of wellness’, which was to be reflecting exciting concepts of architecture, landscaping and medical best practices, not simply transform the site, but to give the world a better place for people living with complicated health problems. The new state-of-the-art facility is a national centre of excellence and it fosters the next generation of clinicians, researchers and educators who spend their lives working together to advance treating severe health conditions.
Bridgepoint Active Healthcare and Infrastructure Ontario have partnered with Plenary Health to design, build, finance and maintain the new facility for 30 years after it was to be completed. Construction on this marvellous building started in the fall of 2009 and finished early in 2013. All patient services had officially moved to the new hospital on April 14, 2013.
